Operator-grade indoor coverage and capacity.

Operator-grade indoor coverage and capacity.

Small Cell Services provide operator-grade indoor mobile infrastructure designed to improve both coverage and capacity in buildings where public signal alone is insufficient.

  • Small cells are low-powered mobile base stations installed inside a building to create controlled indoor coverage.
Unlike signal boosting, which amplifies external signal, small cells connect directly into a mobile operator’s core network via fixed backhaul. This enables both coverage enhancement and additional network capacity.
They are particularly effective in high-density or high-traffic environments.

  • Small Cell deployment is typically appropriate where:

    • Buildings experience high user density and data demand

    • External signal exists but lacks indoor capacity

    • Reliable 4G/5G performance supports customer or staff workflows

    • Coverage improvements must align with carrier-grade standards

It is commonly used in corporate offices, retail environments, hospitality venues and operational sites with significant mobile reliance.

  • Key considerations include:

    • Single-operator or neutral-host deployment?

    • Backhaul availability? Fibre or dedicated Ethernet required.

    • Capacity requirements? User density and throughput modelling.

    • 4G, 5G or both? Spectrum and device profile.

    • Integration with existing LAN? Power, VLAN and security alignment.

These factors influence hardware selection, placement density and integration architecture.

  • We deploy carrier-approved small cell platforms in partnership with neutral-host and operator-aligned providers.
Systems are connected via structured backhaul and integrated into the building LAN with defined segmentation and power requirements (typically PoE or local supply depending on model).
Capacity planning considers expected concurrent users, spectrum band allocation and handover behaviour between cells.
Performance is validated through post-install testing and ongoing monitoring where required.

  • Cellular Boosting amplifies existing outdoor signal.
Small Cells create controlled indoor signal and add network capacity.
Where outdoor signal is weak but present, boosting may be sufficient. Where user density is high or capacity is constrained, small cells provide more predictable performance and scalability.

    • Backhaul dependency. Small cells require reliable fixed connectivity.

    • Carrier coordination. Operator approval and provisioning timelines apply.

    • Capacity planning matters. Under-sizing can limit performance gains.

    • Power and LAN integration must be aligned.

Our role is to ensure the solution is proportionate to demand and aligned with carrier governance.
