Inventory and Field Services Manager
Based at our facility near Bovingdon, Hertfordshire, with travel to client sites across the UK ~ Full-time, permanent ~ Reporting to the Technical Services Manager
Role Summary
Opious delivers managed network services — including managed Wi-Fi, cellular connectivity, and physical security infrastructure — to enterprise clients across the UK and Europe. We're looking for an Inventory and Field Services Manager to lead field service delivery from our Bovingdon site near Hemel Heamstead, and to own the inventory that keeps it running.
You'll manage the field engineering team day to day, planning and dispatching their work so that installations, maintenance visits, and reactive callouts land on time and to standard. Alongside that, you'll own stock control across the site, the field team, and our installation partners — knowing what's where, keeping it accurate, and making sure the right kit is ready when a job needs it.
Key Responsibilities
The key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Lead, coordinate, and develop the field engineering team, whether directly employed or subcontracted
Plan, schedule, and dispatch field engineers across installations, maintenance visits, and reactive callouts
Own on-site service quality, workmanship standards, and adherence to RAMS and site access requirements
Act as the escalation point for field issues, resolving problems and coordinating with clients and delivery partners
Own inventory control across the Bovingdon site, the field team, and installation-partner stock
Manage goods-in, put-away, picking, and equipment issue to engineers
Manage returns, RMAs, and faulty or recovered equipment
Forecast stock requirements against upcoming jobs and flag shortfalls early
Run regular stock counts and reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies
Define and improve field service and stock control processes
Report on field performance and stock accuracy to leadership
